okay, rereading my own writing... why?
anyone who ever tried to archive an itw mboard (or to fix it if it's screwed up by some open comment in some post; or to hide idiotical posting by posting open comment before it and closing comment after it), for that matter, should guess. view the source, Luke.

now i'll explain it, but itw'ers will get it as well. anyway

all the itw stuff less one comment is AFTER the (body bgcolor background=image text= atext= vtext= ).
and actual mb header-name is after all their stuff.
so.. u turn on background images, put nothing there but something to close the image-subtag/body tag, then open comment.
then in header-name's u close the comment, and then say whatever u want to say there
similar way u can get rid of their copyright mssg at the end, but let it live

    it's simple.
    SIMPLE.
    ridiculously simple.
just noone guessed (including me) for an year and a half.
    as most really good things.

it's interesting to note that from several boards lead by people around here (of which i know about),
none is using the (so simple) technique to get free from banners.

so, when about talking, it's great, yeah, go banner fighting!
somebody do something! (not me, not me)

when there's already a hole in the fence, u just walk around it as there's no such thing.
the habit being a second nature?
    or builtin fear?

yes, i'm playing with fire here. so what?
are u being henpecked by commercials so much?

    nevermind me silly ramblings

Web-evolution & it's probably better so, else soon or later ITW would dig it and find another annoying solution...

...in the mean time we can enjoy a msgbrd without stupid ads thanks to svd's inventiveness. And how I know if this wasn't far from easy! Ask DQ how long we have tried to nuke the ads on the pwf msgboard, without success.

You found out "the" solution, svd, you deserve to have the only ads-cleaned commercial board of the planet... this is much more fun than setting up a private perl board, which would have been automatically without ads: here you took "what the web-forest offers" and yet you managed to use it in the right way, eheh... web-neanderthal vs web-cro-magnon?

Did you notice that you don't get now the "confirmation" script once you submit a post? Any idea to explain this side-effect?

    well
I guess Ill have to wait for u to point out in a 'newby' way how to get rid of the banner...

I just made a source copy of this page and one of my boareds page and compared them and I only saw one little difference as far as i could tell...

so i went to my admin area an pasted in and now I have lost my board entirely...gone.....whoooooose
slamooo gazam adios......any time i open the URL netscape crashes even after cleaning cache...

    on a lighter note
I just discovered that I had also opened IE cause thats the fastest way to make a source copy a netscape is stingy there....and I was abel to get back into admin and reverse my changes...now my board works again..............

    so whats the mystery lines?

    regards

oh and I read the articles u directed me too; where is that board at?

but no matter where I paste it in on my board it crashes Netscape and also will not open my board.

However when I paste it into Homesite it does remove the banner....so know Im on right track,,,just not right placement....where are u pasteing it in at?
